Occupy Oakland:
“If we want to stop the 1%, we have to go to their factories, we have to go to the pipelines, we have to go to the ports where trade happens, we have to go to the stock exchanges inside… and all those things have to be occupied.” - Premadasi Amada, Deep Green Resistance

Thank you for starting a movement. But you have a long way to go. This enemy of ours is not just Wall Street— it’s a whole culture. It’s a way of looking at us, and valuing ourselves and each other. And how you are going to move beyond challenging Wall Street, how you’re going to move to become part of the solution, is not gonna be easy. You’re gonna have to do a lot of thinking. You have to look at how you yourselves have become part of this culture. You’re gonna have to look at how many of you would be happy if you could become part of Wall Street, and become part of the corporations, if they would give you jobs. There’s a long road ahead, because you have the opportunity to create something new, that’s based on completely different values. But you’re gonna have to be thinking about values, and not just about abuses.

My part of Oakland is full of poor people. There’s at least one murder a week. Old creeps pimp out teenaged girls in broad daylight. You can buy crack or heroin 30 feet from my door, and two of my neighbors have been held up at gun point this summer. And the City of Oakland says they don’t have the police to stop any of that. But a bunch of people protesting the fact that rich people got a bail out and everyone else got nothing? The city shuts them down tight. Bang. Done. Riot act. Do you ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated? I do. Every day.

Here’s video of tear gas bombs being lobbed into Occupy Oakland protesters.

Violence to fight peace, Oakland Police Department? Something tells me that’s not going to work.

If the people of the United States don’t band together we are all fucked. All of us.

We must unite.

Oakland Solidarity

The most dangerous thing anyone can have is power. I have no idea who ordered the police officers in Oakland to terrorize the Occupiers, but they didn’t do it because they had to. They did it because they wanted to.
Maybe the vote was 51 advocating this action to 49 opposing.
It doesn’t matter, though. Police still pulled this shit.
This really has to stop.

Occupy Denver

So a bunch of people without weapons show up in a group to hang out in a certain area and they’re greeted by cops with nightsticks, guns, shields, and mace and tasers?
This doesn’t make any fucking sense.
